Deputy Municipal Emergency Management Officer (MEMO)
- Appointment: May 2024 to June 2027 (in addition to your substantive position)
- Weekly Standby Allowance $163.31 per week for Deputy MEMO while rostered on (approx. 1 week in 4-5 week roster) plus additional hours or overtime at your current band for actual time worked outside your regular work hours.

We are seeking expressions of interest for a Deputy Municipal Emergency Management Officer (MEMO) from reliable and committed staff who are looking for an opportunity for further professional development and to build new skills and knowledge. You will have the opportunity to support the community and build networks and professional relationships both across the organisation and with external stakeholders.
The Deputy MEMO works closely with the emergency management team and takes an active role in emergency planning and is responsible for helping coordinate council resources to assist relief and recovery activities in the event of an emergency.
Deputy MEMOs are required to be on a standby roster that is based on a four-to-five-week cycle and has some flexibility. During a rostered week the Deputy MEMO should be contactable by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies and incidents within the municipality that affect members of the community from a non-major emergency to a major emergency event. The Deputy MEMO should be contactable via a supplied mobile phone within 30 minutes of a request, within two hours driving distance from the municipality and should be physically and mentally fit for work.
Undertaking the Deputy MEMO role will require a time commitment to initial training, regular feedback/update meetings (quarterly) and attendance at relevant committee meetings where the Lead MEMO is not available, all of which will be during business hours.If you wish to take up this opportunity, we encourage you to discuss your intention to submit an Expression of Interest with your manager or supervisor.
