Expression of Interest

Are you interested in becoming part of Council’s surge Emergency Management team? 

Emergencies can happen at any time and can affect us personally, our families, our pets and our community. Local Government have a variety of emergency management roles that cover all phases of emergencies, from prevention and preparation to response, relief and recovery. 

We are seeking expressions of interest for various Emergency Management positions that are activated during emergency events. We are looking for reliable and committed staff who are looking for an opportunity for further professional development, build new skills and knowledge and support the community. 

If you wish to take up this opportunity, please discuss your intention to submit an Expression of Interest with your people manager in order to ensure business continuity in the event of an emergency.

We are currently seeking:

    • Municipal Operations Centre (MOC) Support Staff
    • Emergency Relief Centre (ERC) Administration
    • Emergency Relief Centre (ERC) Support Staff

Who can apply?

All staff are eligible to submit an expression of interest - provided they have approval from their people leader.

What time commitment is required? 

  • These roles are in addition to substantive roles and will require a time commitment for initial training, feedback and occasional meetings, all of which will be during business hours. 

  • In an emergency, you may be required to work afterhours and weekends. 

  • If required to work in an emergency management role, you will not be able to work in your substantive role on the same day that you are fulfilling an emergency management shift.  

  • It is important your people manager is aware you are submitting an EOI to ensure business as usual.       

Would do I get paid? 

If you are required to assist during an emergency event, you will be paid at your current rate of pay.
