The Role

The Community and Environmental Health unit champions the service delivery aspects of Councils’ business, managing and delivering a range of community-based services including Maternal and Child Health, Environmental Health, Immunisation, Early Learning Centres, School Crossing Supervision Program and Child Safety. The unit employs approximately 188 employees and has a expenses budget of approximately $11m.

Reporting to the Director Healthy Communities and Environments, you will lead and manage a range of high-quality community services and programs that are responsive to community needs and meet relevant service contracts, standards and legislation.

You will ensure financial performance of the unit, undertake policy and strategy development, have a continuous improvement focus and build and maintain strong relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

As a member of our senior leadership team, you will play a key role in the unit and City achieving its objectives and priorities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have extensive leadership experience, qualifications and expertise in community services, environmental health or similar discipline.

You will have significant experience in managing community services operations, program and policy development, the ability to drive performance and quality, sound financial management experience, a commitment to community engagement with strong communication skills.

Your values will align with the City’s and you will be able to demonstrate your commitment to community. This is an excellent opportunity for an effective leader to join the City at a very exciting time.

A satisfactory Police Records Check and employee Working with Children’s Check are required for this role.
