The Role

In this varied role, you will undertake two main responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate the development and delivery of effective community engagement strategies and initiatives and support staff across the organisation to complete community engagement for City led projects and activities. Such activities include developing content for the City’s online engagement platform - Let’s Talk, assisting staff to complete community engagement plans, and reviewing the organisation’s community engagement framework and procedures.
  2. Provide professional communication services, including handling media enquiries and preparation of media/communications materials such as media releases, social media copy and communication plans.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in developing and delivering communications and community engagement plans
  • Highly developed skills in researching, writing, editing and producing material for varied audiences across a range of media and communication, including traditional and digital media
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with a range of enquiries
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to work to tight timeframes and respond to changing circumstances
  • Qualifications in communications, public relations, community engagement, IAP2 or similar will be well regarded

A satisfactory police records check is required for this position.
