The Role

Our Engineering Unit is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join the supportive and collaborative team. As an experienced Civil Engineer, you will provide high level technical expertise, guidance and support, and lead the management of the City’s civil infrastructure assets, which includes roads, dams and drainage.

Using available condition data, reports, strategies and customer requests you will identify infrastructure needs and priorities across the network. You will apply engineering judgement, guidelines and technical advice to prioritise projects and develop three-year capital works and asset renewal programs.

The role focusses on undertaking project development activities including investigations, scoping, concept development, options assessments and estimating to facilitate handover of projects and programs for design. You will also prepare reports, project briefs and proposals for capital works projects and manage external consultants as required to support this work.

In this leadership role, you will supervise and support two team members.

Current projects include:

  • Spillway upgrades at Lake Neangar and Lake Tom Thumb
  • Renewal of Butts Road major culvert and Eaglehawk Creek channel
  • Scoping and development of road upgrade projects on Axedale-Goornong Road
  • Ongoing development of renewal and capital works programs for civil infrastructure
  • Assistance with implementation of flood recovery and drainage upgrade works

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Recognised Civil Engineering qualifications and registration (or eligibility) for Professional Engineers
  • Extensive experience in management and/or construction of civil infrastructure such as sealed roads, drainage or related assets
  • The ability to generate detailed, cost-effective solutions to enable the design of capital works
  • Strong financial management experience including project cost estimation and management of expenditure and financial reporting
  • Team leadership experience or a willingness to undertake a team leadership role
  • A commitment to delivering excellent customer service with strong verbal and written communication skills

This position requires a pre employment medical, a satisfactory police records check and current drivers licence.
