The Role

In this temporary parental leave backfill role, you will lead our Financial Accounting team in the provision of accurate, efficient, timely and effective services and advice relating to the management, control of transaction services of the City.

You will supervise seven employees who undertake the day to day activities of Financial Services including accounts payable, accounts receivable bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations, monitoring timing and completeness of all inputs and ensuring effective and efficient internal controls are in place through regular reviews.

In this varied role, you will also ensure completion of the City’s monthly reporting; balance sheet and income statement  reconciliations and oversee the management of the provision of sub-contracted external financial services for the Goldfield Library Corporation including payments, investments, budgeting, reporting and auditing processes.

This position is located in our new state of the art Galkangu (Bendigo GovHub) building and generally work Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have relevant accounting qualifications, a strong customer service focus with demonstrated team leadership experience in a financial services environment and the ability to manage time, set priorities and plan activities to achieve team objectives.

You will also have a demonstrated understanding of financial management including financial reporting, systems, processes and management of expenditure against budget. An understanding of systems for payments, processing, investments and the ability to review and support internal controls and assurance are essential for this role.

A satisfactory police records check is required for this position.
