The Role
You will be part of the team who is responsible for undertaking a wide range of maintenance and construction tasks, usually within the road reserve, including drainage, concreting, paving, earthworks and asphalting.
Duties include:
- Operating a range of plant associated with maintenance and construction activities, which may include, grader, tractor & combination roller, excavator, backhoe, skid steer and water truck
- Ensuring signage is set up as per appropriate traffic guidance scheme designs
- Ensuring the worksite is meeting all required safety and OH&S requirements
- Ensuring the routine servicing and maintenance of plant to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Performing event traffic management, including on weekends as required
- Undertaking works with a focus on quality, safety, customer requirements and cost
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Skills and experience in road maintenance or civil construction work
- Experience safely operating a range of plant including trucks, water cart, rollers, tractors, skid steers and/or other civil construction machinery
- Ability to effectively maintain a safe and efficient worksite, including an understanding of the basic Occupational Health & Safety principles and practices
- The ability to work in a team and under direction, with a strong focus on customer service
- Sound communications skills and a proven ability to maintain both written and electronic records
- Experience with traffic control or work zone safety practices
This role requires:
- A pre-employment medical
- A satisfactory police records check
- A current driver’s licence with Heavy Rigid (HR) endorsement
- Construction Induction Card, formerly known as Red Card
- A current worksite traffic management and traffic controller’s certificate will be highly regarded
Standard work hours are Monday – Friday 7.00am – 4pm (Hours may vairy depending on operational needs) and works a 9 day working fortnight (fortnightly RDO). The role is based at the City’s Adam Street depot in Golden Square where you will travel out to site to service the City of Greater Bendigo area.
