The Role

In this varied role, you will be responsible for efficiently carrying out a range of maintenance and construction works, usually within the road reserve, including signage, bollards, guide posts and street furniture maintenance to ensure they are of the required standard.

With a safety focus, you operate a range of tools, equipment and plant including small power tools, chainsaws, demolition saws, forklifts & light trucks. As part of the Rapid Response team, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving the safety and presentation of Council assets across the Bendigo region.

This is a full time role, working a 9 day fortnight (with fortnightly RDO), on every second Monday. Work hours are Monday – Friday from 7.00am – 4pm. The role is based at our Adam Street, Golden Square Depot, and will travel to sites across the Bendigo region.

About You

To be successful in this position you will have skills and experience in general maintenance and/or civil construction work with experience safely using a range of tools, plant and equipment. You will have knowledge of safe work practices, good communication and customer service skills, enjoy working in a team environment, be organised with basic computer/administration skills and have the flexibility to changing work requirements.

The role requires:

  • Current driver’s licence with Medium Rigid endorsement (Applicants without a Medium Rigid licence are encouraged to apply and must be willing to obtain their MR licence within an agreed timeframe. Support for licence upgrade may be provided; HR/HC endorsement is desirable
  • Construction Induction Card (formally known as Red Card)
  • A pre-employment medical
  • A satisfactory police records check
  • A current worksite traffic management and traffic controller’s certificate will be highly regarded
