The Role

An opportunity now exists within our Safe Environments unit for suitable experienced Senior Animal Attendant to join our team of professionals, playing a key role in ensuring daily compliance with relevant Acts, Regulations, Codes and Policies relating to the operation of the Bendigo Animal Relief Centre (BARC).

Under guidance from BARC’s Team Leader, this role is required to supervise volunteers and support BARC’s team of Animal Attendants, demonstrating the key components of an effective team player with a strong commitment to working together.  The role involved competing work demands to meet the expectations of our customers, the needs of our communities’ pets, as well as ensuring legislative compliance.

Tasks include but are not limited to daily animal inspection and assessment, responding to customer enquiries, supporting pet owners in crisis, cleaning of animal housing areas, establishing and providing daily welfare requirements to animals, maintaining accurate animal records, transportation of domestic animals and administration of medication and treatment.

This position is across a 7-day roster and will include weekend and public holiday shifts, with the possibility of out-of-hours emergency management requirements.

About You

You will have relevant qualifications or experience in handling and caring for domestic animals, enjoy working in a team environment, have a customer service focus with good administration, organisation and communication skills.

A satisfactory police records check and current employee Working with Children Check is required for this position.
