The Role
Do you want to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of our communities’ pets by supporting their owners and providing care to animals residing at the Bendigo Animal Relief Centre (BARC)?
As a member of the Animal Care Team, you will be responsible for providing high quality daily care for animals in our shelter and delivering exceptional customer support and advice service as part of the City’s Pound and Shelter Services.
- Contribute to the daily management of animals in a professional and caring manner, including daily inspection, environmental enrichment, cleaning, feeding, transporting animals and administration of medication and treatment.
- Observing, documenting and reporting health and behaviour concerns of animals in our care and supporting Veterinarians as required.
- Providing a high level of service to customers in the adoption, surrender and reclaiming of animals.
- Assist members of the public with general enquires, including Front of House customer service.
- Ensure all necessary documentation relating to the management of animals are recorded accurately and in accordance with all required Acts, procedures and timeframes.
About You
- You must possess a qualification or experience (not including pet ownership) to support your extensive knowledge in animal care and/or management.
- You will need to bring a customer service focus with experience in a customer service, retail or administration being desirable.
- You will need the ability to manage changing priorities, where no two days operate the same way.
- BARC is a fast paced and challenging work environment; you will be required to maintain effective work output whilst showing great care and compassion to the animals in our shelter.
- You must have demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills and basic computer skills are necessary for the role.
- You should have the ability to work across 7 days of the week, including weekends and public holidays (penalty rates apply).
A current drivers licence, satisfactory police check and an employee Working with Children Check is required for this position.
