The Role
Due to an internal promotion, in this varied role, you will:
- Provide leadership, direction and operational support to the local laws team (approx. 6 staff)
- Ensure effective service delivery of the local laws and animal services functions
- Ensure effective and timely management of all relevant prosecutions including the oversight of briefs of evidence and liaising with external legal services
- Provide information and advice to a range of stakeholders
- Ensure policies, procedures and processes are current, effective, and aligned with legislative requirements, fostering continuous improvement and operational excellence
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have knowledge and comprehension the Local Government Act, Domestic Animals Act, impounding of livestock Act and the City’s local laws with experience in the management of Animal Services and Local Laws being desirable
- Demonstrated team leadership skills with a focus on team management, employee development and training
- The ability to comprehend legal process and practice, including collection of evidence and document management
- Have a continuous improvement focus with experience in identifying opportunities for systems and procedure improvements and implementing successful outcomes
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service including the ability to deal with difficult customers
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with proven skills in quality reporting writing and preparing external correspondence
A satisfactory police check, working with children check and drivers licence are required for this position.
