The Role
Our Governance & Integrity Unit provides expert oversight across governance, legal, risk, assurance, leasing and compliance functions, ensuring the organisation operates with integrity and in alignment with legislative and regulatory requirements.
The unit leads the development and continual improvement of frameworks, systems and practices that support good decision-making, robust risk management and sound legal and policy foundations. This includes oversight of Council and Executive governance processes, coordination of statutory reporting, and delivery of assurance activities that enhance organisational performance and accountability.
You will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic leadership to the team
- Enabling Council and staff to make ethical, informed, and timely decisions by delivering high-quality advice, systems and processes that strengthen integrity across the organisation
- Support councillors and the organisation to effectively meet legislative, regulatory, and statutory obligations, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability
About You
In this varied role, you will bring:
- Demonstrated leadership in governance, integrity or risk management, with proven ability to establish, maintain and continually strengthen governance frameworks, systems and processes in a complex organisation
- Strong legal, governance or risk advisory capability, with the ability to interpret legislation, assess compliance requirements and provide clear, strategic and actionable advice to a range of stakeholders
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, continuous improvement and high performance with a genuine commitment to our organisations values
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a political and highly regulated environment, including sound judgement, stakeholder engagement and the ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion.
- Well-developed strategic thinking and analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong influencing and relationship‑building skills
Relevant qualifications are required, as well as a satisfactory Police Records Check and employee Working with Children Check.
