The Role
Bendigo Airport is a complex, high‑risk environment where operational continuity and regulatory compliance cannot be compromised. This role provides essential support to the Bendigo Airport Manager by acting as the airport’s second‑in‑command (2IC) for day‑to‑day operations.
You will assist with operational oversight, maintain compliance with CASA regulations, and ensure continuity of leadership during periods of manager leave. The role also contributes to the delivery of key initiatives in the Bendigo Airport Strategic Plan 2024–2034, including preparing for increased passenger growth, supporting the business park and enhancing the emergency services hub. A major focus of the role is the coordination and delivery of onsite operational projects. This includes managing airside and landside improvements, minor and capital works, contractor activities, and precinct activations by ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and with minimal impact on airport operations.
About You
You bring experience in operational environments where safety, compliance and risk management are critical. You have the capability to oversee complex activities, support regulatory requirements, and step into leadership responsibilities when needed. Your strengths include attention to detail, strong organisation, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities. You are confident using computer systems, maintaining records, and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
A background in aviation or regulatory operations is desirable but not essential, what matters is your ability to learn quickly, apply safety principles and contribute to the airport’s strategic and operational growth.
