The Role
In this role you will lead and guide the delivery of civil construction projects for the City, ensuring all services are delivered in line with the relevant safety standards, on time and budget. The team delivers projects including the construction of roads, bridges, drains and footpaths
The Senior Construction Team Leader is an integral part of the Works Construction unit and team. You will have oversight of the responsibilities for a team of 20 staff, comprising Civil Construction Workers and Construction Team Leaders. The role also guides a range of external contractors onsite.
The position is based at the City’s Adam Street depot in Golden Square and works closely with other departments at the depot and across the organisation. A vehicle may be provided for commuter use subject to Council policy. This position works a 9 day fortnight with the standard work hours of Monday to Friday, 7am – 4pm.
About You
As the successful candidate you will have skills and knowledge in civil construction, the ability to operate a range of plant and equipment including excavators, skid steers, front end loaders and trucks.
You will have a safety focus and strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements and the ability to plan and execute works within a program and budget.
Previous supervisory experience in civil construction or maintenance is essential for this role, with the ability to provide guidance and assistance and work as an effective team member.
You will have strong customer service, communication and organisation skills with sound computer and record keeping skills.
If you hold a Certificate III Civil Construction qualification or similar, with significant experience in civil construction, we welcome your application.

- A current driver’s licence with Heavy Rigid (HR) endorsement, with Heavy Combination (HC) endorsement being desirable
- Worksite Traffic Management and Traffic Controller’s certificates
- Relevant Plant Operator competencies
- Construction Induction Card, formerly known as Red Card
