The Role
As one of our Local Laws Officers, you will:
- Inform and educate the community on issues relating to animal management and local laws
- Handle, collect and transport a variety of animals including dogs, cats, and livestock
- Investigate and resolve breaches of local laws and other relevant legislation, including the Domestic Animals Act and the Impounding of Livestock Act
. - Issue compliance orders, official warnings and infringement notices as a result of these investigations
- Prepare written reports and documentation to a high standard
This a full time is based at Galkangu – Bendigo GovHub, but will travel to locations across the Greater Bendigo region and works Monday – Friday for a period of 3.5 hours per day. You will participate in the after-hours and on-call roster services.
About You
You will have a customer service focus and:
- Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Experience in animal management compliance activities or a similar regulatory environment
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, relevant Acts and local laws
- Strong time management and organisation skills
- Enjoy working in a team environment
A satisfactory police check, employee Working with Children Check and current drivers licence are required for this position.
