The Role

As one of our Senior Local Laws Officers, you will:

  • Inform and educate the community on issues relating to local laws
  • Investigate and resolve breaches of local laws and other relevant legislation, including the Domestic Animals Act, Impounding of Livestock Act, and the Environmental Protection Act
  • Issue compliance orders, official warnings and infringement notices as a result of these investigations
  • Prepare written reports and documents to a high standard

This a full time temporary backfill position until October 2026. The position is based at Galkangu – Bendigo GovHub, but will travel to locations across the Greater Bendigo region and works Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm.

About You

You will have a customer service focus and:

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Experience in local laws or a similar regulatory environment
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, relevant Acts and local laws
  • Strong time management and organisation skills
  • Enjoy working in a team environment

A satisfactory police check, employee Working with Children Check and current drivers licence are required for this position.
