The role

As our Emergency Management Officer, you will play a lead role in operationalising relief and recovery arrangements before, during and after emergencies, including responsibilities as lead Municipal Recovery Manager during emergency events. You will work collaboratively across the organisation and with other agencies to plan, implement and review local government emergency management activities including required activities under the Municipal Emergency Resourcing Program.

You will contribute to building emergency management capacity across the organisation, through training and support for staff, and will participate in the Northern Victorian Emergency Management Cluster and statewide networks. You will also develop and implement community resilience initiatives and projects to enhance preparedness and awareness across the community, with a particular emphasis on communities with complex needs.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will have relevant experience and knowledge of key concepts and principles around community recovery and resilience and emergency management frameworks. You will have excellent communication and community engagement skills and demonstrated experience in project management, developing partnerships and problem solving in complex situations.

 A satisfactory police records check, current drivers licence and Working with Children Check (Employee) is required for this position.
