The Role

Do you enjoy working outdoors and have good technical and mechanical skills?

In this varied position, you will:

  • Ensure the City’s parking payment systems are operational and functioning by undertaking preventative maintenance and repair or correction of all malfunctions
  • Install new or replacement parking meters and associated infrastructure
  • Act as the key contact for the City’s parking payment systems, suppliers and contractors
  • To assist, support and backfill the City’s Multi Storey Car Park operations, systems and cashiers

This is a full time role, working mainly Monday – Friday 7am – 3:30pm, though some out of hours work may be required occasionally.

The role will also undertake Multi Storey Car Park after hours standby role as required, when colleagues are on leave or unavailable. Standby duties require answering phone calls and are all carried out via phone.  Standby allowance is $24.21 with calls paid at the relevant rate. Standby hours when available are Monday-Thursday 6 pm - 7:30 pm and Friday 6pm - 10pm.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have knowledge and experience in the operation, maintenance, installation and repair of electronic parking meters and payment systems (or technical experience with similar electronic systems and devices demonstrating transferable IT skills)
  • Good technical and mechanical skills including the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
  • A customer service focus and enjoy working with a range of people
  • Good administration, time management and computer skills
  • A understanding of occupational health and safety and safe work practices

A satisfactory Police Record Check, Working with Children Check and current Victorian driver’s licence is required for this position.
