The Role
Our Works Unit is looking for an experienced Civil Construction Worker to join the team and support the delivery of civil projects across the City of Greater Bendigo.
In this role you will undertake a range of tasks related to civil construction work (usually within the road reserve), infrastructure maintenance and associated activities including drainage, concreting, paving, earthworks and asphalting.
Standard work hours are Monday – Friday 7.30am – 4pm and works a 9 day working fortnight (fortnightly RDO). The role is based at the City’s Adam Street depot in Golden Square where you will travel out to site to service the City of Greater Bendigo area.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have skills and experience in:
- Civil construction, general road maintenance, landscaping or concrete work
- Safe and competent operation of a range of plant and equipment associated with road construction and maintenance activities such as tip truck, grader, excavator, backhoe, loader and skid steer
- A safety focus with knowledge of safe work practices and OH&S
- Effectively manage a safe and efficient worksite
- Good communication skills with a customer service focus
- The ability to work as a cooperative and effective team member
This is a physically demanding role, that may involve regular lifting, digging and general labouring.
This role requires:
- A pre-employment medical
- A satisfactory police records check
- A current driver’s licence with Heavy Rigid (HR) endorsement
- Construction Induction Card, formerly known as Red Card
- A current worksite traffic management and traffic controller’s certificate will be highly regarded
