The Role
Are you an Arborist looking for a new challenge in an organisation that offers stability, job security, generous leave provisions and learning and development opportunities?
As one of the City’s Arborists you will:
- Maintain and improve Bendigo’s Parks and Gardens to improve the presentation of our city
- Carry out and record all tree works, including removals, amenity pruning and habitat pruning
- Undertake the contemporary pruning, maintenance, removal and planting techniques of the City’s tree population
- Operate plant and equipment associated with contemporary urban tree maintenance practices
- Assist with the application of a variety of chemicals associated with contemporary urban tree management
This position works a 9-day fortnight with every second Monday as an RDO. Work hours are 7.30am to 4.30pm.
You will meet at our Adam Street Depot in Golden Square and travel out to site within the Greater Bendigo region.
About You
As the successful candidate you will have:
- Qualifications and experience in Arboriculture
- Skills and experience in the safe and competent operation of a variety of arboriculture related plant and equipment, including elevated work platforms, truck mounted cranes, branch chippers and chain saw operation
- Ability to work cooperatively and positively in a team environment and operate as an effective team member
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a safe and efficient worksite, including an understanding of the basic OH&S principles and practices
- Good communications skills with the ability to maintain both written and electronic records
A satisfactory police records check and a driver’s licence with Medium Rigid (MR) endorsement as a minimum are required for this position.
