The Role

Are you a motivated and visionary leader ready to continue growing our Helen Jessen Early Learning Centre into its next phase?

A rare and exciting opportunity exists for a qualified and experienced Nominated Supervisor to lead our Helen Jessen Early Learning Centre in Strathdale.

Our play‑based learning centre has been proudly serving the community for 39 years. With a current waiting list, our service is well established and deeply connected to families and the wider community. We currently support 120 families and 160 enrolled children.

We have a dedicated team of 35 staff, including full‑time, part‑time, and casual educators holding Certificate III, Diploma, and Bachelor‑level qualifications. Our team is supported by an Education Leader one day per week and an onsite cook five days a week.

The centre is licensed for 72 places across six rooms, providing education and care for babies, toddlers, and kindergarten-aged children. We operate Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm for 50 weeks of the year and close on all Victorian public holidays.

With support available from the Coordinator Community Services and team, you provide calm and confident leadership, building on the strong foundations already in place while shaping future direction.

  • Maintaining high standards of quality, compliance and continuous improvement
  • Strengthening a culture grounded in respect, trust and collaboration
  • Guiding inquiry-based, relationship-driven programming that prioritises time with children
  • Building strong partnerships with families and the local community

About You

You will have a strong background in early childhood education and care, a commitment to professional development and community service and an understanding that strong culture creates strong practice.

You will bring:

  • A Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (Degree highly regarded)
  • A commitment to child safety and early childhood education
  • Leadership experience as a Nominated Supervisor or in a senior leadership role within early childhood education
  • Strong knowledge of the Education and Care Services National Law, National Regulations and the National Quality Framework.
  • A relational, ethical and reflective leadership approach
  • Confidence to lead with clarity while empowering others to grow
  • Excellent administration, organisation and time management skills

This role requires a satisfactory police check, employee Working with Children Check, Mandatory Reporting Child Protection training and First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management.
