The Role

We are seeking two qualified mechanic with heavy diesel equipment experience looking for a new challenge in an organisation that offers stability, job security and flexibility.

In this role you will maintain the City’s plant, fleet and equipment by providing a consistently high quality standard of automotive repairs and maintenance. Some responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that plant, fleet and equipment are efficiently serviced, maintained and repaired, including heavy diesel equipment
  • Inspect and report any defects of plant and ensure servicing, repairs and maintenance provided are to the manufacturer’s specifications
  • Perform inventory checks and order stock materials
  • Ensure strong and positive communication.

This position works a 9-day fortnight where overtime may be available on occasion and will be on a rotating roster for “on call” duties on public holidays. You will based at the City's Depot in Adam Street, Golden Square and works closely with other departments at the depot. 

About You

The successful applicant will have:

  • Knowledge, skills and experience in relevant trade practices and technology in the repair and maintenance of large and varied fleet
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and identify faults of a complex or technical nature with solutions
  • Sound communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to work as a cooperative and effective team member.

A satisfactory police records check and a current drivers licence are required for this position, with Heavy Rigid (HR) and forklift endorsement being desirable.
