The Role
In this new two year temporary role as our Senior Privacy Project Officer, you will develop, implement and lead a contemporary privacy and data governance function across the organisation to strengthen the City’s integrity management practices, ensure legislative compliance, and safeguard community trust in the City’s handling of information.
This is a unique opportunity to lead the project that will embed best-practice privacy and information management frameworks that protect both community information and Council operations.
You will work collaboratively to develop policies, procedures, systems, training programs and reporting mechanisms that support compliance with privacy legislation and information management obligations.
About You
To be successful in this project role, you will bring:
- Relevant qualifications with demonstrated experience leading privacy and data protection functions, including the development and implementation of governance frameworks, and the management of incidents and breaches
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Excellent project management skills with experience managing organisation-wide projects from planning to implementation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with highly developed influencing and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement and make timely, risk‑aware decisions based on analysis of facts, alternatives and legislative obligations
- A strong understanding of Local government, its compliance obligations with the ability to use processes effectively to achieve outcomes
- Demonstrated experience in providing clear, practical advice to senior stakeholders
This role requires a satisfactory police records check.
