The Role

We are seeking a capable and people‑focused Deputy Municipal Building Surveyor to provide senior operational leadership within Council’s building services.

Reporting to the Municipal Building Surveyor, this role leads and manages a team of building professionals to deliver compliant, consistent and customer‑focused regulatory and permit services. You will ensure Council meets its statutory obligations under Victorian building legislation, while supporting service improvement, managing risk and contributing to policy and operational planning.

As a delegate of the Municipal Building Surveyor, you will represent Council in regulatory and stakeholder matters and play a key role in maintaining safe building outcomes for the community.

About You

As an experienced leader and qualified Building Surveyor, you will bring a strong understanding of building legislation and regulatory decision‑making. You will have proven technical credibility combined with the ability to lead people, manage performance and build a capable, engaged team. Additionally, you will be confident operating in a complex environment, balancing competing priorities and exercising sound judgement.

This role requires a satisfactory police records check, current drivers' licence and an employee Working with Children Check.
